2012 Fundraising Dinner and Silent Auction
Event inspired attendees to get active
About 450 physicians and friends of the Wisconsin Medical Society Foundation were inspired and energized at the Foundation’s annual Fundraising Dinner and Silent Auction on April 19 at the Monona Terrace Community and Convention Center in Madison. Representatives from the NFL Play60
TM program, Green Bay Packers and American Heart Association shared stories of how the National Football League’s commitment to health and wellness is changing the lives of youth across the country. Special guest Packers cornerback Jarrett Bush chatted with guests, answered questions and signed autographs.
WISC-TV Sports Director Jay Wilson served as emcee for the event –
Get Active: A Game Plan for Health Communities – and members of the American Medical Association - Medical Student Section (AMA-MSS) of the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health provided ‘cheerleading’ assistance and volunteer help for the event. Amy Jorgensen of the NFL, Liz Makins of the American Heart Association and Tim Schroeder, youth football coordinator for the Packers, shared details about their organizations’ efforts to stem the obesity epidemic, especially among children.
The event, which featured a raffle and large silent auction, is critical to the Foundation’s ability to support medical education and our mission of advancing the health of the people of Wisconsin. The Foundation Board of Trustees and staff members thank everyone who helped make the event a success by sponsoring a table, purchasing tickets, supporting the raffle or auction and making a donation in support of their work. Proceeds from the event allow the Foundation to assist medical students and extend its impact on community health initiatives across the state.
Watch for information on the 2013 fundraising event later this year. We hope you will join us.
